League Rules

Please review all league rules, requirements, and the Soccer City Code of Conduct before joining La Liga. A team captain or leader must sign a document confirming they have read and understand this information prior to the start of the first game.

About La Liga

A safe, fun, friendly competition

Our leagues are played 7v7 on artificial outdoor turf and are intended to offer a medium-to-high level of friendly competition (have played soccer before). Player skill and athletic ability may vary. While soccer is competitive in nature, we don't hand out gold medals — we ask that maturity be applied to make the experience safe and fun for everyone.

Team & Player Registration

Non-negotiable fee deadlines below. Every player must have an active Soccer City membership.

A $100 deposit is due by the deadline stated in the season dates. Your team will not be added to the schedule if a deposit is not paid on time, and the team will not be able to play that season.

Final team rosters (max 15, min 7 players) are due by the halfway point of the season (week 4).

For the Men's League, 50% of the total team balance is due before Game 1. 100% of the total team balance is due for all teams and divisions prior to the start of your third scheduled game. If the fee has not been paid at the start of the game, the game results in immediate forfeit and your team will be removed from the rest of the season.

Individual Players are players not assigned to a team initially. Individual players pay a $60 Individual Player pass per season, which includes a 3-month Soccer City membership.

The registration fees include referee fees. Referee fees are determined by division.

Every person who plays at Soccer City Aurora must have an active membership that includes a current photo. Players must have this before entering the field. A photo ID is required to register.

Scheduling

The schedule is posted and updated regularly on Playpass.

Team No-Show Policy

No-shows affect everyone. If your team no-shows for any reason, a $25 fine will be charged and required to be paid prior to the following game.

  1. Up to two (2) weather-related reschedules will be determined by the La Liga Director. If there are more than 2 weather cancellations for the same game, the game will result in a tie in La Liga standings. Closure notices for snow or temps at/below 25°F are posted on the calendar page.
  2. Teams with an outstanding balance will forfeit after the game clock starts. If the fee is not paid by then, the team will be removed from the rest of the season.
  3. Games are scheduled on Playpass. Teams that no-call, no-show automatically forfeit.
  4. Teams with 4 or fewer players at the end of 7 game-clock minutes will forfeit.
  5. Guest Player Policy: Teams may use guest players during the regular season to field a team. In the playoffs, teams may use up to 2 guest players not on the roster only if necessary.

Code of Conduct

All players must agree to the Soccer City Aurora Code of Conduct. Any person who is issued a red card or removed for a Code of Conduct violation must schedule a meeting with our Community Outreach Director to establish a return-to-play plan. Until that meeting is completed, the person will not be allowed in Soccer City Aurora. Violation of any part of the Code of Conduct is grounds for immediate dismissal and loss of membership.

Game Etiquette & Playoffs

  1. Teams report to the HOME or VISITOR sideline based on the scheduled assignment. No spectators behind the goal areas.
  2. All divisions play 7v7 — 6 field players and 1 goalkeeper at a time.
  3. Two 25-minute halves with a 2-minute halftime. Time is kept by the referee. A 7-minute grace period is given to compose a minimum of 5 players. 4 or fewer after 7 game-clock minutes results in forfeit.
  4. In the event of serious injury that drastically reduces play time, the referee may alter the length of any game.
  5. A player who receives 3 or more yellow cards in a season will be automatically issued a red card and must sit out until scheduling a return-to-play meeting with the league manager.
  6. Player Red Card Policy: Any player issued a Red Card sits out the rest of the match and must pay a $25 return-to-play fine before playing in La Liga again. Severe incidents may require a Return to Play meeting. We reserve the right to ban players and guests.
  7. If a match is terminated by a referee due to misconduct, the game is considered complete and not replayed. If misconduct is on both sides, both teams forfeit and no points are awarded.
  8. Players are highly encouraged to wear shin guards. Soccer City is not liable for any injury during play.
  9. If both teams have similar color jerseys, the visitor team must change or wear pinnies.
  10. Team jerseys are encouraged; pinnies are also available.
  11. A referee's judgment is final. Verbal protests are a violation of the Code of Conduct. Written complaints may be filed with the league manager at the Soccer City Front Desk.
  12. Each team plays 7 games. Standings: Win = 3 points, Tie = 1 point, Loss = 0 points.
  13. Four teams advance to semifinals based on points. Tiebreakers: season shutouts, then goals scored.
  14. Semifinal and final game tiebreakers go to immediate penalty kicks — minimum of 3 PKs per team. If tied after 3 kicks, both teams continue alternating until a winner is found.
